The layout had not be changed since it was originally built, so the rooms where confined and did not flow.

The architect design involved the remove of key load bearing walls, to achieve an open plan kitchen and combined family room area. This resulted in a complex construction process, where the upper rear bedrooms and bathroom had to be propped and suspended, whilst the supporting walls where removed. Structural steel beams where installed to take the load, and new external walls constructed to extend the floor plan.

The works also included, a new guest bedroom, bathroom, powder room, laundry, and a renovation to the existing bathroom, en-suite and toilet.

The new designer kitchen with granite bench-tops became the centre of the new room, with an old external sun room being enclosed and converted to a library and powder room.

Externally the brickwork was re pointed, ageing timbers replaced, and the charm of sandstone used for new walls, to complement the landscaping.
